A businessman and US Army veteran has announced that he will seek the Democratic
nomination for Morgan County District 1 commissioner.
Darrell Allen, 46, of the Priceville community said he will
seek the position currently held by Jeff Clark.
“I will bring leadership to the county commission and work
as a team player to do great things for this county!”
My goals will be to work with the Chamber of Commerce and Realtors
to help with recruiting more families from the BRAC move. It will be imperative
to work with the Economic Development Association to assist in recruiting new industry
which will bring the jobs that our citizens need! I feel our county government should
assist small business owners with tax breaks and incentives, so they can hire more
workers. I will help provide any and all necessary funding for our schools and libraries.
I feel they should be safe and equipped with the latest technology.
I am a US Army veteran that served during the Grenada-Lebanon
era from 1981 through 1984. My basic training station was Ft. Dix, New Jersey. My
overseas duty station was in Ansbach, Germany in 1982. My final duty station was
with the Bradley Fighting Vehicles in Ft. Hood, Texas. I am currently an Honor Guard
with the American Legion Post 15 and a member of the Disabled Veterans Post, which
are both located in Decatur.
I was a United Parcel Service Driver in the downtown Decatur,
Sixth Avenue, and Hwy 20 industrial areas until 1991. After that I entered in the
Real Estate business in 1992. In 2001, 2002, 2004 I was on the board of Directors
and 2003, became President of the Morgan County Board of Realtors, where I represented
approximately 260 Realtors on the State and Local level. From 1999 to 2004 I was
Broker and Co-Owner of Century 21, Gold Mark Realty, a company of 24 Real Estate
agents, specializing in residential, commercial, and property management. I currently
work for Primerica Financial Services. Our mission is to help families become properly
protected, debt free and financial independent.
I am a single father with three daughters and a son. My faith
is strong and I attend Priceville Baptist Church.
I feel my service oriented experience will be an asset in serving
the citizens on the Morgan County Commission. I will serve with integrity and honor
and always have an independent voice for the people of Morgan County.
